I froze when the reply came:
“Check your closet.”

My heart dropped. I hadn’t opened that closet in months.

I stood up slowly, every instinct in me screaming not to go — but curiosity outweighed fear.

I crept over, hand trembling as I gripped the doorknob.

It creaked open.

At first… nothing.

Then I saw it —
A small, dusty box, sitting in the corner.

I pulled it out, heart pounding.

Inside… were photos. Dozens. Of me and her. Some I recognized — birthdays, school dances — but others… I had never seen before.

And in the most recent one —
I was asleep in my bed.

Taken last night.

The phone buzzed again.

“I never left.”
